Their first album, 12 Bar Bruise (2012), was a raw, self‑recorded piece of garage‑psychedelia, notable for its inventive techniques—like recording vocals via a swarm of iPhones in a room.\n\nFrom there, the band’s style grew wildly ambitious. Their discography reads like a genre sampler, always shifting, always vital.\n\nTheir achievements are as impressive as their output. In both 2017 and 2022 they released five studio albums in a single year—rarities in modern music. Phantom Island, their 27th studio album, arrived in June 2025 accompanied by a theatrical tour blending rock, orchestral performances, and rave elements. They’ve also taken bold stands—removing their catalog from Spotify in protest, and then making all their albums available on Bandcamp as “name‑your‑price” downloads, where they promptly claimed the top 27 spots on the platform.\n\nToday the band’s legacy is one of uncompromising creativity, independent spirit, and sheer prolificacy.
