Two\ndays before his stint began, on June 6, 1950, he had\nrecorded his last studio album with Dizzy Gillespie, the\ncelebrated Bird & Diz, which featured Thelonious Monk on\npiano. During these months, as Bird himself announced,\nhe was playing with strings.
