Released in 2005, the album bridges ferocious technicality with patient, slow-burn storytelling, culminating in the monumental 24-minute title suite that has become a cornerstone of their catalogue.

Across four sides of coloured vinyl, you get the band in widescreen: razor-sharp riffs, labyrinthine keyboard lines, and rhythmic turns that somehow still land with emotional weight. Tracks like “The Root of All Evil” and “Panic Attack” deliver the precision and power fans expect, while “Sacrificed Sons” and “The Answer Lies Within” reveal a more reflective, melodic edge.

This limited edition 2xLP pressing gives the music the breathing room it deserves. The dynamic shifts—from whispered passages to towering climaxes—feel more physical on vinyl, inviting you to sit with the album as a complete journey rather than a playlist of moments. For collectors, this is a key chapter in Dream Theater’s evolution; for new listeners, it’s an immersive entry point into modern prog rock, presented in a format that honours its ambition and scope.","A sprawling prog epic pressed on coloured vinyl, Octavarium captures Dream Theater at their most cinematic and fearless.","2026-11-05 05:58:11",6929,null,false,"instock",true,1,"CRCHAH23821","500","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/Dream-Theater-Octavarium.webp",[22
629023,[],[26
1727,"Brand New Vinyls","brand-new-vinyls",[],[32,37,42,47,52,57,61
24122,"Artist",[36],"Dream Theater
10609,"Genre",[41],"Rock
10634,"Mood",[46],"Epic
1796,"No Of Records",[51],"1
1339,"Record Condition",[56],"M
1338,"Sleeve Condition",[56
264,"Speed",[65],"33",[],[68
164171,"dream-theater","https://calcuttarecords.com/artists/dream-theater/","Dream Theater is a pioneering American progressive metal band celebrated for their intricate compositions, technical virtuosity, and genre-defining albums such as "Images and Words" and the concept epic "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory". Their impact on progressive metal is profound, widely recognised as one of the "big three" alongside Queensrÿche and Fates Warning.","Dream Theater’s story begins in 1985, when guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, and drummer Mike Portnoy—students at Berklee College of Music in Boston—formed a band initially named Majesty. They later renamed themselves Dream Theater, inspired by a local movie theatre name, as they dropped out of school to pursue their musical ambitions. Their early work, including the 1989 debut "When Dream and Day Unite", laid the groundwork for the intricate, metal-infused sound that would define them.

Musically, Dream Theater melds the complexity of progressive rock with heavy metal’s power. Their sound draws from influences like Rush, Yes, Iron Maiden, and Pink Floyd, resulting in a blend of virtuosic instrumentation, shifting time signatures, and grandiose song structures. Over the years, the band’s lineup evolved: vocalist James LaBrie joined in 1991, keyboardists Kevin Moore, Derek Sherinian, and eventually Jordan Rudess each added distinct flavour, while drummer Mike Portnoy’s departure in 2010 and return in 2023 bookended a significant chapter in the band’s evolution.

Their breakthrough came with their second album, "Images and Words" (1992), which became their highest-selling release. This was followed by critically lauded works like "Awake" (1994) and the landmark concept album "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory" (1999). Over the decades, they've released over sixteen studio albums, earned multiple Grammy nominations and a win, and sold millions of records worldwide. Their 2025 album "Parasomnia" marked the return of Portnoy and ignited a globe-spanning anniversary tour celebrating their legacy.

Dream Theater’s legacy is woven into the fabric of modern progressive metal. Revered for their technical precision, emotional breadth, and creative ambition, they’ve inspired countless musicians and built a devoted global fanbase. Their influence echoes in the genre’s complexity and in the careers of artists who followed in their expansive, exploratory footsteps.",10,[],[],[],[36],"
"product:629024","profile",[84,94,102,110,118,126,134,142
"130537","Octavarium - Dream Theater - Brand New Vinyl LP Record (Arrives in 20 days)","octavarium-dream-theater-lp-brand-new-vinyl-arrives-in-20days","7799","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/M65387.jpg",0.8522
similar","Similar to this record
"627815","Opeth – Ghost Reveries - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","opeth-ghost-reveries-brand-new-vinyl-lp-record-quick-ship","6929","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Opeth-Ghost-Reveries.jpg",0.7853
"261208","Yes – Symphonic Live (Limited Edition 4 LP Half-Speed Master with Etched 8th Side) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","yes-symphonic-live-limited-edition-4-lp-half-speed-master-with-etched-8th-side","10009","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/AMER_213724__196787__11182025032012-8633.webp",0.7786
"117276","Porcupine Tree – The Sky Moves Sideways (Remastered Edition) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","porcupine-tree-the-sky-moves-sideways-remastered-edition","7699","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Porcupine-Tree-The-Sky-Moves-Sideways-Remastered-Edition.jpg",0.7827
"98882","Hans Zimmer – The World Of Hans Zimmer Part II – A New Dimension (3 Lp) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","hans-zimmer-the-world-of-hans-zimmer-part-ii-a-new-dimension-3-lp","9899","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Hans-Zimmer-The-World-Of-Hans-Zimmer-Part-II-A-New-Dimension.jpg",0.7638
"101421","Pictures At An Exhibition - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - LP - Pre Owned Vinyl (Arrives in 21days)","pictures-at-an-exhibition-emerson-lake-palmer-lp-pre-owned-vinyl-arrives-in-14days","2899","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/MC04NTk5LmpwZWc.jpeg",0.7679
"470300","Muse – Origin Of Symmetry (CD) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)","muse-origin-of-symmetry-cd-brand-new-audio-cd-quick-ship","1979","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Muse-Origin-Of-Symmetry.jpg",0.7596
"562580","Avenged Sevenfold – Life Is But A Dream - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","avenged-sevenfold-life-is-but-a-dream-brand-new-vinyl-lp-record-quick-ship","7149","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Avenged-Sevenfold-Life-Is-But-A-Dream.jpg",0.7597
