Jonas Kaufmann has selected his favorite Christmas carols from Germany and around the world and recorded them with fantastic musicians. The German Christmas carols that Jonas Kaufmann chose are closely related to his memories of a happy Christmas with the family, which is why CD 1 not only includes well-known German Christmas carols such as "Leise rieselt der Schnee", "Alle Jahres wieder ...", "Vom Himmel hoch ..." or "Daughter Zion" on the album, but also special Bavarian folk tunes like "Es wird scho glei dumpa" and "Im Woid is so staad". A highlight on the album is certainly the touching "Silent Night", in which Jonas Kaufmann is only accompanied by a harp. American Christmas songs such as "White Christmas", "O Holy Night", "Let it snow" and "Winter Wonderland" are also among Kaufmann's favorites because his father often reads the legendary Bing Crosby Christmas records, Sinatra, after the Christmas presents and Ella Fitzgerald hung up. In addition, particularly beautiful French, English, Italian and Swedish Christmas carols can be heard in new arrangements on CD2.Jonas Kaufmann is accompanied by the excellent Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Salzburg Bach Choir and the St. Florian Boys' Choir under Jochen Rieder, which makes the noble arrangements wonderful give a warm, shiny sound. The Cologne Studio Big Band is the ideal swinging partner for many of the international Christmas hits. German jazz star Till Brönner is a fantastic, inspired soloist on "Let it snow" and "Have yourself ...".
