Keith Jarrett walked onstage exhausted, in pain, and confronted with a subpar piano. What followed is a continuous, spontaneous performance that turns limitation into pure invention.

Across its extended movements, Jarrett shapes melody, groove, and space with an almost narrative sense of flow. Hints of gospel, classical lyricism, and blues touch the edges, but nothing feels forced; themes rise, bloom, and vanish as if discovered in real time. You can hear the audience gradually lean in, responding to each new idea as the night unfolds.

This CD edition is essential for anyone who loves piano, not just jazz fans. It’s a masterclass in how improvisation can feel as coherent and emotionally direct as a composed work. Put it on late at night or during a quiet morning and it becomes a room of its own—intimate, searching, and strangely uplifting. For a collection that values both historical weight and replay value, this is non‑negotiable shelf space.","Jarrett’s legendary Köln improvisation—solo piano as spellbinding, late‑night storytelling on a single stage.","2026-11-05 05:57:49",4179,null,false,"instock",true,1,"CRCHAH23829","500","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/keith-jarrett-the-koln-concert-cd-0042281006722.webp",[22
629017,[],[26
6811,"Brand New CD","brand-new-cds",[],[32,37,42,47,52,57,61
3421,"Artist",[36],"Keith Jarrett
10611,"Genre",[41],"Jazz
10637,"Mood",[46],"Heartfelt
1796,"No Of Records",[51],"1
1339,"Record Condition",[56],"M
1338,"Sleeve Condition",[56
264,"Speed",[65],"33",[],[68
163529,"keith-jarrett","https://calcuttarecords.com/artists/keith-jarrett/","Keith Jarrett (born May 8, 1945) is an American pianist and composer celebrated for his boundary-defying work in jazz, classical music and improvisation. Renowned for solo masterpieces like The Köln Concert, he has left an indelible mark on both concert and recording realms.","Keith Jarrett was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1945. A child prodigy, he began piano lessons as a toddler and gave his first public recital at age seven. In his teens he toured as a piano soloist with Fred Waring’s Pennsylvanians before launching into a professional jazz career that included early stints with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the Charles Lloyd Quartet, an ensemble that brought him attention from both jazz and rock audiences.

By the late 1960s and early 1970s, Jarrett was associated with key figures such as Miles Davis and was already releasing solo albums. His landmark solo debut for the ECM label, Facing You, set the stage for innovative unaccompanied improvisations that would become his signature. This period saw him form his own groups—including the “American Quartet” with Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian—and explore new improvisational forms blending jazz, gospel, blues, classical and folk influences.

In 1975, Jarrett recorded The Köln Concert, a spontaneous solo piano performance that became the best‑selling piano recording in history. It remains a cultural touchstone for its emotional immediacy and the sheer daring of improvisation. Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Jarrett embraced dual pathways in music, performing classical recitals of Bach, Handel, Shostakovich, and others, while also leading his long‑running Standards Trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette, acclaimed for their lyrical, deeply interactive explorations of the jazz repertoire.

Though he suffered two severe strokes in 2018 that ended his performing career, Jarrett’s legacy endures. His recordings and improvisational ethos have inspired generations of musicians across jazz and classical arenas. Albums like Facing You, The Köln Concert, Belonging and numerous trio and classical projects continue to resonate with listeners and collectors of vinyl, CD and cassette alike.",23,[],[],[],[79,36],"Jarrett, Keith","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/artist-keith-jarrett.webp
"product:629018","profile",[85,95,103,110,118,126,134,142
"281255","Keith Jarrett – The Koln Concert (2 LP) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","keith-jarrett-the-koln-concert-2-lp","6544.15","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Keith-jarrett-the-koln-concert-vinyl-375x200-1.jpg",0.9477
similar","Similar to this record
"624426","Diana Krall- Live in Paris (CD) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)","diana-krall-live-in-paris-cd-brand-new-audio-cd-quick-ship","2199","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/0044006510927.webp",0.7919
"408595","John Coltrane – Blue Train (CD) (Rvg edition) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)","john-coltrane-blue-train-cd-rvg-edition-brand-new-audio-cd-quick-ship","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/0724359172125.webp",0.778
"110245","Bill Evans – At Town Hall Vol. 1 (Acoustic Sounds Series) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","bill-evans-at-town-hall-vol-1-acoustic-sounds-series","6929","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Bill-Evans-At-Town-Hall-Vol.-1.jpg",0.7834
"261162","Chick Corea – Forever Yours: The Farewell Performance - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","chick-corea-forever-yours-the-farewell-performance","7809","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Chick-Corea-Forever-Yours-The-Farewell-Performance.jpg",0.7796
"281303","Thelonious Monk – Thelonious Alone In San Francisco (Craft OJC Series) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","thelonious-monk-thelonious-alone-in-san-francisco-craft-ojc-series","8139","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/ACONC_36383__197101__01122026045519-1370-375x200-1.jpg",0.7614
"274871","Miles Davis – Sketches Of Spain (Yellow Vinyl) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)","miles-davis-sketches-of-spain-yellow-vinyl","4019.65","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/MilesDavis-SketchesOfSpain-YellowLp.webp",0.759
"408710","Joe Bonamassa – An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House (2 CD) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)","joe-bonamassa-an-acoustic-evening-at-the-vienna-opera-house-2-cd-brand-new-audio-cd-quick-ship","https://calcuttarecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/8712725740322.webp",0.7507
