Hey there, I’m Avijit Sarkar, and I’m the founder of the Calcutta Record Company. I’m a tech entrepreneur by profession, but I have a huge love towards the world of vinyl records. Let me tell you a bit about my story.
Growing up in the vibrant city of Kolkata, I was always surrounded by the sounds of yellow taxis, old colonial british buildings and culture.
One day, dwelling down in Free school street I discovered the soulful melodies of vinyl records. To me, there was nothing quite like the feeling of holding a piece of history in my hands, listening to the warm, authentic sound that only vinyl records can provide.
As I explored this hobby more, I started to realize that the new pressed vinyl records were often expensive and lacked the warmth and character of their vintage counterparts. So, I made it my mission to preserve the musical heritage of Kolkata by curating the lost and rare music of the past and making it available to audiophiles around the world.
And that’s how the Calcutta Record Company was born. It started as a hobby, but quickly grew into something much more. I spent countless hours searching through dusty record shops and marketplaces, looking for hidden gems and curating the best quality records.
