About Anand Raj Anand
Anand Raaj Anand grew up in Delhi, born into a family of jewellers, before making a bold decision in 1995 to leave the family business and pursue his passion for music in Mumbai. His first foray into the industry came with the private album Babu Tiptop, featuring the track “Jhanjharia Aise Chhanak Gayi,” which went on to find its way into the film Krishna. His formal film career began shortly after, in 1996, when he wrote, composed, and sang for the movie Masoom—including the immensely popular “Chhota Bachcha Jaan Ke,” as well as “Kale Libaas Mein” and “Tukur Tukur Dekhte Ho Kya.” Musically, Anand Raaj Anand is celebrated for his dynamic blend of film score sensibility and mass‑appeal songwriting. Capable of crafting foot‑tapping party numbers one moment and emotionally resonant melodies the next, his style bridges traditional Bollywood orchestrations with modern pop energy. Over the years, he has served as music director for more than 90 films, contributed lyrics to over 40 soundtracks, and lent his voice to more than 45 films as a playback singer. His body of work includes standout titles such as Pardesi Babu, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Bichhoo, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Kaante (which earned him a Filmfare nomination for Best Music Director in 2003), Kismat, Musafir, Welcome, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Double Dhamaal, Singh Saab The Great, and Shootout at Wadala. His compositions often became the defining sound of the films themselves, and several tracks turned into evergreen hits that still find life in playlists and parties today. Anand’s influence lies in his ability to craft instantly recognizable, hook-laden songs that resonate with a wide audience. Though not always in the mainstream headlines, his work continues to be celebrated by Bollywood music lovers and collectors alike—cementing his legacy as a reliable purveyor of memorable film music and melodies that stand the test of time.
