Alice In Chains – Jar Of Flies (CD) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)

Jar Of Flies captures Alice In Chains at their most vulnerable and quietly daring. Released in 1994 as an acoustic-led EP, it arrived at the height of the band’s heavy, sludgy fame and instead offered something far more fragile: dimly lit songs about isolation, regret, and the uneasy hope that follows collapse.

From the mournful bass line that opens “Rotten Apple” to the aching harmonies of “Nutshell,” the band strips away distortion without losing any emotional weight. Layne Staley’s voice sounds wounded yet clear-eyed, while Jerry Cantrell’s guitar work leans on texture and melody rather than brute force. “I Stay Away” and “No Excuses” brought this introspective side of the group into the mainstream, proving that heaviness isn’t just about volume.

For collectors, this CD is a snapshot of a band redefining what a hard rock act could be in the ’90s—intimate, melodic, and unafraid of silence. It’s the perfect piece for late-night listening and a crucial bridge between the band’s earlier grit and their later, more expansive work. If you value songwriting depth and emotional honesty on your shelf, Jar Of Flies belongs in your rotation.
