Amar - Various Used Vinyl 78 RPM Record

This 1967 Hindi 78 from The Twin label, simply titled “Amar,” has seen a long, crowded life on real turntables, not in a display case. The shellac is in Poor recordCondition, the sleeve in Poor coverCondition, but that’s exactly the charm: surface noise, worn edges, and the kind of crackle you only get from decades of plays at family gatherings and roadside tea stalls.

Spinning at 78 RPM, it instantly transports you to an older Bombay, where these songs might have floated out of wooden radiograms and noisy jukeboxes. It’s a survivor from an era before playlists and algorithms — a small, heavy disc that still insists on being heard. Collectors of early Hindi recordings and label completists for The Twin will recognize how rarely pieces like this turn up, even in rough shape.
