The name of Noel Bauldeweyn is not often found among the extraordinary phenomena of an exceptionally rich generation of composers around 1500. He was probably born directly in Antwerp or the surrounding country and therefore belongs to the representatives of the so-called Franco-Flemish School. The composer worked apparently in The Netherlands during his lifetime, of which there is only scant documentary. It is noteworthy that, until recently, works by Bauldeweyn were attributed to his much more famous contemporary Josquin Desprez.
