In 2019, I started accepting what is within me, I dared to embrace simplicity and to listen to the melodies coming out of my mind and fingers. I thank my sister Christina Ivanova for being the first person who believed in me taking this journey. Her support in listening back to early drafts and giving detailed feedback is just one of the countless things she has done for me. This album would not be here without her. I deeply thank my mentor Tarek Yamani for being on the other end of a spider web’s string of hope when I started composing: a thin yet strong connecting string to music and ‘rabbit hole’ interests across time, despite all odds. I thank him for his genuine care, honesty, support and feedback. For being a safe space whenever, wherever. I deeply thank my piano teacher Renate Rosenfelder and my mentor Georg Ludvik, who have shown truly unlimited love and care for my musical education throughout the years. A number of friends helped me believe this album was even in the realm of the possible: Adel Awad sharing some of the very first feedback, Anjaan helping me break out of fears and insecurities, Mahan Mirarab being an endlessly generous musician and friend from the first live performance to countless moments of self-doubt, Golnar Shahyar, a brief but profoundly moving encounter early on, and Carlos Guedes recording the first EP of the material. I am grateful for books like J. Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” and K. Werner’s “Effortless Mastery”.
