Before Dawn: The Music Of Yusef Lateef - Yusef Lateef - Audio CD - Pre Owned CDs (Arrives in 14days)

Released in 1957, 'Before Dawn: The Music Of Yusef Lateef' is more than just an early jazz album—it's a window into the restless innovation of a multi-instrumentalist who would redefine the boundaries of the genre. Lateef's approach here is both deeply rooted and forward-thinking: you hear the pulse of classic jazz, but also hints of the global explorations that would later become his signature. The interplay of flute, oboe, and saxophone offers colors rarely heard before in jazz ensembles, and the compositions shimmer with a sense of adventure. What sets this album apart is its refusal to settle—each track pushes towards what jazz could become, not just what it was. The group’s chemistry is palpable, and Lateef’s vision is clear: music is a universal language, and he’s willing to explore every dialect. For collectors and listeners, this record is a testament to the restless spirit of late-50s jazz and a chance to experience an artist on the cusp of transformation. It's a must for anyone who values jazz as a living, evolving art form.
