Bughouse - Benjamin Herman - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

Benjamin Herman released his first Bughouse Project album in 2018. It had long been on his wish list to bring those two old favourites together: punk and jazz. So Herman had taken to the studio with guitarist Reinier Baas, bassist Peter Peskens and hardcore punk drummer Olav van den Berg (well-known from legendary punk bands Seein’ Red, Lärm and Man Lifting Banner) along with a raft of obscure references to British saxophonist Xero Slingsby and 70s punk. The result was Bughouse (2018) featuring twenty explosive compositions each around two minutes long. Bughouse: The ERUS / ARC Sessions is the second release from Herman’s Bughouse Project: a double album with each side having its own character. The A side was recorded at producer Simon Akkermans’ Epic Rainbow Unicorn Studio in Rotterdam where Benjamin had previously laid down his Nostalgia Blitz (2023) and YUNIKōN (with New Cool Collective, 2021) albums. Side B was recorded with sound technician Menno Bakker at the Amsterdam Recording Company, where he had created his first Bughouse album. Bughouse: The ERUS / ARC Sessions reveals once again the full range of Benjamin Herman’s project. In 22 numbers, Herman and his consorts race through jazz punk, noise, free jazz and everything in between. From an ode to a space ship from the iconic 90s anime Cowboy Bebop and a track about British hotel bathroom carpets to a genuine jazz crime ballad.
