The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge was established in the 15th century and is admired the world over as exemplary of the English choral tradition. In our own time, the composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies described it as "a crowning glory of our civilisation". Over the past century, the choir’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast around the world, has become an essential element of Christmas.

Conducted principally by Sir David Willcocks, director of King’s College Choir from 1957 to 1974, and featuring the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble in ‘O come, all ye faithful’ and ‘Hark! the herald angels sing’, this LP contains 15 carols and songs that express the spirit and joy of a traditional Christmas.
