The music of Schumann is the dominant presence in this set of seven CDs, but there are also works by Prokofiev, Franck, Satie, d’Indy and the Belgian composer Guillaume Lekeu (1870-1894). Several of these recordings, made between 1973 and 1990, are now released on CD for the first time. Collard’s colleagues are fellow pianist Anne Queffélec, who was her regular duo partner, violinist Catherine Courtois, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and conductor Marek Janowski. Awarding the set five stars, Le Soir described Catherine Collard as “a sincere, passionate artist who explored the ultimate possibilities of her instrument”.
