2024 is a year of change for Sir Antonio Pappano. In September he conducts his inaugural concert as chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, having completed his tenures as music director of London’s Royal Opera House (after 22 years) and, in September 2023, of Rome’s Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

His 18 years of achievement in the Eternal City are documented by the 27 CDs in this box, containing all the Roman recordings he made for Warner Classics of symphonic, concertante and sacred works. There is music by composers from Italy (Rossini, Verdi, Respighi), France (Lalo, Saint-Saëns), Germany (Strauss), Austria (Mahler and Bruckner – a previously unreleased recording of his Symphony No 8), Czechia (Dvořák), Russia (Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Lyadov, Prokofiev), the UK (Britten) and the USA (Bernstein). Among the soloists are Martha Argerich, Bertrand Chamayou, Beatrice Rana, Alexandre Tharaud, Anna Netrebko, Joyce DiDonato, Ian Bostridge, Michael Spyres and Thomas Hampson.
