Cosmogonie - Srdjan Ivanovic - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

The 'BLAZIN' QUARTET,' drummer Srdjan Ivanovic's quartet, will release its fifth album in early spring 2026. Originally from Sarajevo, at the crossroads of East and West, Srdjan Ivanovic is a drummer now based in Paris, whose story and background are quite unusual: having fled the Bosnian War as a child, Srdjan landed in Greece where he was immersed in an eclectic mix of music, from Byzantine chant and Greek folk to Italian pop, opening his own music to different aesthetics and regions of the world. Entitled Cosmogony, this new opus brings together thirteen of his new compositions, all structured around the theme of the creation of the world, through the lens of ancient Greek mythology, common to the four Mediterranean countries of the group's members. The album is conceived as a sequel. This program, where jazz meets Balkan music to become one, is remarkably served by the leader and his three musical partners: Greek trumpeter Andreas POLYZOGOPOOULOS (notably featured with his trio at the Jazzahead! 2025 showcases), Italian guitarist Federico CASAGRANDE (whose Looping Mont Blanc project as leader was featured by Nicolas Pommaret on France Musique's 'Au Coeur du Jazz' and as 'Disc of the Day' on TSF JAZZ last June, and who has been equally acclaimed as a sideman with the quintets of Gautier GARRIGUE and François POITOU), and Bulgarian double bassist Mihail IVANOV (a double bassist notably active in the BODUROV Trio and the NIKOLOV-IVANOVIC Undect). The central theme of Cosmogonie is universal.
