Desires - Jagjit Singh & Chitra Singh Used Audio Cassette

This 1997 Weston Musicassettes release of Jagjit Singh & Chitra Singh’s "Desires" is the kind of cassette that makes you let the song finish, then flip it back again. The ghazals sit beautifully on tape—soft tape hiss, rounded lows, and voices that feel a bit closer than on the shiny remasters.

Both the cassette and inlay are in Very Good shape, with just the light wear you’d expect from a well-kept ’90s shelf, not a rental rack survivor. The j-card still shows that classic Weston design and Hindi print that screams pre-streaming India.

If you grew up rewinding their ghazals with a pencil, this feels like getting a piece of that evening back—the slow rotation of the spools, the pause between sides, the comfort of their harmonies filling a small room. It’s equally at home in a serious ghazal collection or in your daily-play deck.
