Doppelganger - Kid Creole And The Coconuts - LP - Pre Owned Vinyl (Arrives in 21days)

‘Doppelganger’ finds Kid Creole And The Coconuts at the height of their theatrical powers, fusing sharp pop hooks with sly storytelling and a cosmopolitan flair. Released in 1983, this album is a playful yet incisive snapshot of the post-disco era—where the lines between satire and sincerity blur, and every track is a ticket to a sultry dancefloor. August Darnell (aka Kid Creole) leads his Coconuts through a parade of infectious rhythms, brassy arrangements, and tongue-in-cheek lyricism, casting a knowing eye on love, identity, and modern life. With standout tracks such as "The Lifeboat Party" and "There's Something Wrong in Paradise," ‘Doppelganger’ showcases the band’s signature blend of tropical pop, big-band swagger, and New York cool. This is more than just a fun listen: it’s a cultural artifact that captures the vibrant, genre-blurring spirit of early 80s pop. For collectors and adventurous listeners alike, ‘Doppelganger’ is an invitation to dance, reflect, and lose yourself in a world where every groove tells a story.
