Fondation Gautier Capu... - Duo Shum - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

The third Erato release under the auspices of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon brings the recording debut of Duo Shum: Canadian-Ukrainian pianist Anastasia Rizikov and French-Russian cellist Lisa Strauss – both alumnae of the Paris Conservatoire. The Slavonic word ‘shum’ means ‘noise’, and Rizikov and Strauss place a special emphasis on music from Eastern and Central Europe, the Balkans and Anatolia.

The album features works by the Ukrainians Myroslav Skoryk and Mykola Lysenko, the Russian-born Sergei Rachmaninov and Alfred Schnittke, the Hungarian Béla Bartók, the Estonian Arvo Pärt, and the Turkish Fazil Say.

Gautier Capuçon established his foundation in 2022. Its mission is to support exceptional young musicians in France and around the world. “This philanthropic project is close to my heart,” he says, “and extends my long-standing commitment to music education and charitable endeavours.”
