Ghazals From The Films (The Love Songs Of Talat Mahmood) - Talat Mahmood Used Vinyl LP Record

Talat Mahmood’s voice on a 1962 Odeon pressing feels like the soundtrack to letters never sent. These are film ghazals from Hindi cinema’s gentler era, where every sigh, pause, and echo hints at a story behind the song. The vinyl sits in Very Good Minus, with light surface marks but still plenty of warm, late-night play left in the grooves. The cover is also Very Good Minus, showing honest aging—soft edges, faint ringwear—that suits a record that’s been around more love stories than a modern playlist ever will.

Spin it and you get that soft, smoky croon gliding over understated arrangements; nothing shouts, everything lingers. It’s the kind of LP you play when the house is quiet and you don’t want company, just a companion. If you’re building a serious ghazal shelf, an early Talat film collection on Odeon is not one to pass over.
