I Can't Get Started... - Artie Shaw And His Gramercy Five - LP - Pre Owned Vinyl (Arrives in 21days)

Artie Shaw’s Gramercy Five stands as an audacious experiment in small group swing, a moment where big band virtuosity met chamber jazz intimacy. 'I Can't Get Started...' distills the warmth, wit, and sophistication of Shaw’s clarinet into a nimble ensemble that brims with personality. The Gramercy Five’s lineup—featuring the rare harpsichord, a bold move for jazz in the 1940s—delivers a sound both urbane and unconventional, making every track feel like a hidden gem in the American songbook.

This album is more than a nostalgic trip; it’s a testament to Shaw’s restless creativity. The interplay between clarinet and harpsichord, the rhythmic verve, and the lyrical improvisation invite listeners into the heart of mid-century jazz innovation. For collectors and newcomers alike, this record is a portal to a moment when jazz was transforming, shaped by musicians who dared to reimagine its boundaries. If you appreciate jazz as both living history and a canvas for personal expression, 'I Can't Get Started...' is an essential listen—elegant, inventive, and alive with the spirit of discovery.
