I Can't Get Started... - Artie Shaw And His Gramercy Five - LP - Pre Owned Vinyl (Arrives in 14days)

Artie Shaw’s Gramercy Five stands as one of jazz’s most concise and inventive small groups, and "I Can't Get Started..." distills their genius into a collection that’s as intimate as it is adventurous. At a time when big bands dominated the airwaves, Shaw’s pivot to a compact ensemble allowed for a stunning interplay between clarinet, harpsichord, and rhythm section—a bold move that married swing’s sophistication with chamber music’s nuance. The title track, a smoldering interpretation of Vernon Duke’s classic, showcases Shaw’s lyrical phrasing and the group’s subtle wit, while other selections reveal the breadth of their artistry: intricate solos, crisp arrangements, and moments of pure, unfiltered creativity. This album is more than a time capsule—it’s a testament to the restless innovation of a jazz master and his handpicked ensemble. For the collector, it’s a chance to experience the warmth and immediacy of mid-century jazz as it was meant to be heard: on vinyl, spinning beneath the gentle crackle of nostalgia. Whether you’re a seasoned devotee or a newcomer to Shaw’s legacy, this record invites you to linger in the golden hour of swing.
