In Memoriam (Kalam-E-Asatiza) - Begum Akhtar Used Vinyl LP Record

Begum Akhtar’s voice on this 1975 HMV pressing of “In Memoriam (Kalam-E-Asatiza)” feels like a late-night mehfil captured in your living room. The record sits in Very Good Minus condition, with light surface marks that may add a faint, vintage crackle between tracks — just enough to remind you this LP has a history. The cover is also Very Good Minus, showing gentle shelf wear and age, but the artwork and notes are intact and inviting.

This isn’t just another ghazal compilation; it’s Begum Akhtar paying homage to the great poets, line by line, with the kind of nuanced phrasing modern recordings rarely touch. The tabla and harmonium sit slightly back in the mix, letting her voice carry the emotional weight. If you’ve ever wanted her classic style on original His Master’s Voice wax, this is the sort of copy collectors quietly look out for.
