J.s. Bach - double Sens Nemanja Radulovic - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

“Bach allows every artist to imagine their own version of his music,” says violinist Nemanja Radulović. “With this album I wanted to present the different sides of Bach’s character in three concertos that are so different in structure, but also in the way they can be interpreted emotionally.” He and his ensemble Double Sens are joined by oboist Sébastien Giot, countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and harpsichordist Stéphanie Fontanarosa in a Bach programme built around the violin concerto in E major, the double concerto for oboe and violin, and a transcription for violin of the keyboard concerto in D minor.

“We often think about Bach as having just one side – as strong and serious,” continues Nemanja. “There is such a human side to his music, and it is very important for us all to remember that he was someone who loved life, who had a big family.” The ‘family’ of music on the album is completed by four shorter pieces. In the the sublime aria ‘Erbarme dich’ from the St Matthew Passion, Radulović supplies the violin obbligato to interweave with Philippe Jaroussky’s vocal line. Then there is a transcription for viola of the Prelude from the Cello Suite No 1 and two items written by Bach with the flute in mind: a gently lilting Sicilienne, and the spiky, sparkling Badinerie that closes the Orchestral Suite No 2.
