John Coltrane- John Coltrane 100 - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)

“John Coltrane 100” plays like a guided tour through the evolution of one of jazz’s most searching minds. Rather than a casual best-of, this collection feels like a carefully plotted arc: early hard‑bop fire, sheets‑of‑sound intensity, and the later, searching spiritual work that changed improvised music forever. You hear a player who treats each chorus as a door to a wider universe, whether he’s burning through a standard or stretching a simple motif into something almost liturgical.

For listeners building a serious jazz shelf, a Coltrane anthology of this scope is non‑negotiable. It’s a way to trace how he moved from sideman brilliance to bandleader vision, how his tone darkened and opened, and how his ideas about rhythm and harmony pushed past the boundaries of his era. On vinyl, the grain of his tenor, the breath between phrases, and the drive of the rhythm sections feel immediate and physical.

This set rewards deep listening, but it’s also a powerful entry point if you’re just stepping into Coltrane’s world. File it under the records you don’t outgrow; you simply keep meeting them at a deeper level.
