At the beginning, there was this text: “La Malvenue,”- “The uninvited” sent to Roni by her sister Sharon Mohar, the story of difficult days spent with her sick partner. Touched by this text, Roni turned to JB, her artist friend, sharing her desire to create this new project together. The repertoire of “Les Embolies” was born. They started to write songs together, inspired by fragments of stories, about intertwined destinies, ordinary heroes, about how easily one can lose it all. As Leonard Cohen wrote in his song “Anthem”: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” Started during the Covid pandemic, the repertoire grew and turned into a full album. Imagined stories, but sometimes also their own, more intimate and private. Recorded at home, at Roni’s studio, playing all instrument, without pressure, without any specific goal.A sincere and liberating experience. Two artists in a bubble. A small room in the middle of a world at a standstill, with an almost theatrical and cinematic dimension that Roni and JB transcribed into this new repertoire. Three of the album’s songs later became the starting point for a musical short film, which will accompany the release of the album.
