Live At The Public Theater (New York 1980) Vol. 2 - Gil Evans - LP - Pre Owned Vinyl (Arrives in 14days)

Captured over multiple nights at New York’s storied Public Theater, this electrifying double volume finds Gil Evans at his most fearless and exploratory. Vol. 2 draws you deep into the lush, unpredictable textures that defined Evans’ late-career sound—melding his signature orchestrations with the restless energy of his boundary-pushing ensemble. This is not nostalgia, but jazz in full, living motion: Evans’ arrangements shimmer with invention, and his band—featuring future legends like Bill Evans (saxophone) and Lew Soloff—brings a wild, communal spirit to every improvisation. The setlist ranges from Evans originals to daring interpretations of contemporary material, each piece breathing with the immediacy of a live setting where anything could happen. For vinyl collectors, this is a rare opportunity to experience the intimacy and risk that defined a crucial moment in jazz history. Evans’ vision here is both reverent and radical, a masterclass in how tradition can be both honored and upended. If you savor albums that capture jazz as a living, unpredictable art, this album will prove an endlessly rewarding listen.
