Mahogany Brown - Moodymann - Audio CD - Pre Owned CDs (Arrives in 14days)

Moodymann’s 'Mahogany Brown' stands as one of Detroit’s most essential electronic records, a rare album that bridges the city’s house and techno heritage with a distinctly human, jazz-inflected warmth. Released in 1998, the album is a masterclass in sampling and groove, weaving together sultry vocal snippets, lush Rhodes chords, and deeply rooted funk and soul into a cohesive, hypnotic whole. Each track feels like a late-night drive through Detroit—romantic, mysterious, and deeply connected to the city’s musical lineage. 'Mahogany Brown' is more than a collection of house tracks; it’s a living, breathing document of Black club culture, infusing every beat with both melancholy and celebration. For vinyl collectors, this album is a touchstone for Moodymann’s idiosyncratic approach—unpredictable, organic, and always grooving. Whether you’re a long-time devotee of Detroit’s underground or new to the world of deep house, 'Mahogany Brown' rewards close listening and repeated spins. It’s a record that doesn’t just fill the room; it transforms it, offering a sanctuary of sound that feels both timeless and urgently present.
