Mozart’s early opera Mitridate, re di Ponto boasts a sequence of spectacular arias for its strongly contrasting characters. As Mitridate himself, “Michael Spyres rules over a high-quality cast,” writes Forum Opéra, “immediately establishing himself as the best interpreter of the role of the king.” Surrounding him are a starry trio of French sopranos – Sabine Devieilhe, Elsa Dresig and Julie Fuchs – countertenor Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian. mezzo-soprano Adriana Bignani Lesca and tenor Cyrille Dubois.
