Mozart: String Quintet... - quatuor Ebene Antoine Tamestit - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

“When a fifth member joins the ensemble it is always cause for celebration,” explains Pierre Colombet, first violinist of Quatuor Ébène. The French quartet welcomes a favourite colleague, viola player Antoine Tamestit, for two of Mozart’s string quintets – No. 3 in C major, K 515 and No. 4 in G minor, K 516. Their last joint album, ‘Round Midnight, an exploration of 20th-century music, won a 2022 Gramophone Award.

This new release clearly represents a peak of achievement too: it is Gramophone magazine’s Recording of the Month for April 2023. Richard Wigmore writes: “The Ebène compel the ear with their beauty of tone and eloquence of line … second to none in colour and vitality, and unrivalled in their lyrical tenderness. For me they become a new benchmark.”
