The perennial Broadway musical My Fair Lady was based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. This release presents the complete recording by the original Broadway cast, which was taped in 1956 (the album spent 15 weeks at #1 in the charts). The recording showcases Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in the lead roles –Harrison would also star in the 1964 film, in which Andrews was replaced by Audrey Hepburn. The Original Cast Recording went on to become the bestselling album in the United States in 1957.
