Nektar – A Tab In The Ocean - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

Nektar’s 1972 statement, "A Tab In The Ocean," is one of those records that quietly rewired progressive rock from the edges. Recorded by a British band based in Germany, it carries a slightly outsider feel—familiar enough for fans of early ’70s prog, yet distinctly its own creature. The title suite is the centerpiece: a multi-part voyage that moves from towering, fuzz-laden riffs into shimmering, cosmic passages, all threaded together with melodies that linger long after the needle lifts.

What sets this album apart is its balance. Nektar never disappears into technical showboating; every tempo shift and guitar flourish serves the song. Keyboards glow rather than dominate, bass and drums lock into earthy, almost psychedelic grooves, and the vocals bring a human warmth to the sci‑fi atmosphere. You can hear echoes of contemporaries like Pink Floyd and early Genesis, but the band’s sense of momentum and grit keeps it punchy and immediate.

For vinyl collectors, "A Tab In The Ocean" is a rewarding spin from start to finish—a cohesive, immersive listen rather than a grab bag of ideas. If you’re building a shelf of essential early ’70s prog and space‑rock, this belongs in the front row.
