Nino - Hans Brussee - Vinyl LP Record (Arrives in 20 days)

‘Nino’ is a particularly beautifully designed concept album by Leiden musician Hans Brussee (Immortal, Spasmodique, I$i$, Oak, Edgar’s Hair), himself a father of young children, in memory of the 12-year-old boy of the same name who lost his life in a traffic accident in Leiderdorp on March 10, 2023. The poignant record tells the story of Nino’s short life and incomprehensible end. The music is very diverse, ranging from ambient to prog and from folk to alternative rock, yet shares a clear atmosphere of mourning, grief, and melancholy—an emotional tribute to Nino and his family without becoming sentimental. The album was created using dozens of different instruments and just as many musician friends, including the other Edgar’s Hair members Leo Zwaan, Leon van der Leer, and Marijn van ’t Veer; bassist/guitarist Martin Docters van Leeuwen (Spasmodique); Singer-songwriter Sioe and bassist Lex Verhey (The Dummies, La Peste). But friends, girlfriends, and classmates of the deceased boy also contributed, including those united in the school choir. Voice recordings of Nino and his mother can also be heard on the record. ‘Nino’ contains 23 tracks and is being released on vinyl as a double LP, featuring a textured embossed gatefold sleeve with orange lettering and accompanied by a 20-page booklet.
