Opeth – Ghost Reveries - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

Ghost Reveries finds Opeth at a rare crossroads: still rooted in their death metal origins yet fully embracing the expansive reach of progressive rock. Released in 2005, this album captures the band in a moment of fearless reinvention, folding Hammond organs, acoustic passages, and labyrinthine song structures into their signature heaviness.

Tracks like “Ghost of Perdition” and “The Baying of the Hounds” feel like self-contained journeys, shifting from blast-furnace riffs to hushed, eerie calm without ever sounding forced. Mikael Åkerfeldt’s dual vocal approach—deep growls giving way to fragile, melodic lines—mirrors the music’s constant tension between brutality and vulnerability. The production is warm and dynamic, perfect for vinyl: you can feel the air around the drums, the grain in the guitars, and the weight of every low-end surge.

This is an album to live with, not skim. Its occult-tinged lyrics, intricate arrangements, and long-form compositions reward focused, start-to-finish listening. For collectors, Ghost Reveries marks one of Opeth’s most important transitions, a statement piece that helped redefine what progressive metal could be. If you want a record that still reveals new corners on the tenth spin, this belongs on your shelf.
