Raga Todi Raga Malkauns - Omkarnath Thakur Used Vinyl LP Record

This 1964 Columbia pressing of Omkarnath Thakur’s “Raga Todi Raga Malkauns” feels like opening the door to an old baithak where no one’s in a hurry. The recordCondition is Very Good, with grooves that still hold that warm, unhurried analog glow, while the coverCondition is Very Good Minus—lightly aged, like a well-handled tanpura case that’s seen a few train journeys. Todi on Side A leans introspective and serious, each phrase carefully unfolded; flip the LP and Malkauns settles in like late-night conversation that goes deeper than planned. This isn’t background music—it gently pulls you into pitch-perfect meends, bold taans, and a vocal authority you just don’t hear often now. If you grew up around early All India Radio broadcasts, this will feel strangely familiar; if you didn’t, it’s a chance to hear why his name still gets quiet respect among Hindustani purists.
