Rush – Power Windows (CD) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)

Power Windows finds Rush in 1985 at their most sleek and laser-focused, embracing synths and studio polish without losing the bite of their progressive rock roots. This is the band fully committed to the possibilities of technology—both as a sound palette and as a lyrical obsession.

Neil Peart’s lyrics circle around power in its many forms: political, personal, economic, and emotional. Tracks like “The Big Money” and “Manhattan Project” balance arena-sized hooks with sharp commentary, while “Marathon” and “Mystic Rhythms” push the band into expansive, almost cinematic territory. Geddy Lee’s bass lines remain muscular even as his keyboards take center stage, and Alex Lifeson’s guitar work slices through the mix with icy clarity rather than sheer volume.

For collectors, this CD captures a crucial pivot in Rush’s evolution—when progressive rock met mid-’80s technology and refused to become background pop. It’s a document of a band refusing nostalgia and chasing new sounds with discipline and curiosity. If you’re drawn to thoughtful rock that rewards close listening yet still hits with immediate impact, Power Windows deserves a prominent spot on your shelf.
