Sextet / Six Marimbas - Steve Reich - Audio CD - Pre Owned CDs (Arrives in 14days)

Steve Reich’s 'Sextet / Six Marimbas' brings together two cornerstones of late 20th-century minimalism, each a testament to Reich’s genius for transforming repetition into revelation. 'Sextet' pulses with a kinetic energy, layering pianos, percussion, and synthesizers in shifting patterns that seem to breathe and evolve in real time. The result is a vibrant interplay of rhythm and resonance that rewards attentive listening with subtle surprises at every turn. 'Six Marimbas,' meanwhile, is a reimagining of Reich’s earlier 'Six Pianos,' recast with mallet instruments for a warmer, more organic timbre. The interlocking marimba lines create a mesmerizing tapestry—alive with movement, yet precise as clockwork. This album stands as a landmark in Western Classical music’s ongoing dialogue with contemporary ideas of sound and structure. For collectors and curious listeners alike, it offers an immersive sonic world that is as intellectually stimulating as it is emotionally engaging. Whether you’re drawn to the trance-inducing qualities of minimalist music or eager to experience a pivotal moment in modern composition, 'Sextet / Six Marimbas' is an essential listen—one that continues to influence composers and captivate audiences decades after its release.
