Terje Vigen - Ketil Bjornstad - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

The legendary Norwegian poet Henrik Ibsen begins his epic cycle of poetry from 1861. In 43 verses we follow Terje Vigen through his life - from cradle to grave. In 2017, 156 years after, Ketil Bjornstad was responsible for composing the music to the Kilden theatre and concert house-performance of “Terje Vigen - A Musical”. Birgit Amalie Nilssen was directing it, while Bjorn Ole Rasch joined as music producer, chapel master and arranger. In January 2017, the recording sessions started in Kongshavn Studios, east of Kristiansand. As well as Rasch and Bjornstad himself, a dream team of Norwegian musicians contributed; Rolf Kristensen (guitar), Ole Kelly Kvamme (bass), Tom Rudi Torjussen (drums), Marin Stallemo Bakke (hardanger fiddle, violin) and Hilde Norbakken (vocal producer). Ketil remembers: “There were some extremely intense sessions. It was like Ibsens poem drove us against poetry and drama, against new rhythms and soundscapes”. In July 2017, the (sold out) musical of Terje Vigen was premiered in Fjaereheia natural amphitheatre, just a stone’s throw away from Fjaere church, where Ibsen is said to have found Vigen’s grave and been inspired for the poem. Bjornstad: “Later on, Bjorn Ole and sound engineer Roald Rasberg went through all the material and bounced out a mix that we’re finally able to present. What a pleasure! It’s like the energy and magic of this very special production, is being carried within us all”.
