The Alan Parsons Project – Tales Of Mystery And Imagination – Edgar Allan Poe (Half-Speed Master) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

Originally released in 1976, “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination – Edgar Allan Poe” is where The Alan Parsons Project announced its grand ambitions: to fuse progressive rock, orchestral drama, and studio wizardry into a single, immersive world. Inspired by Poe’s most haunting stories, the album moves like a continuous narrative—shifting from eerie whispers to full-blown symphonic climaxes without ever losing its grip.

This half-speed master pressing elevates that vision. By cutting the lacquer at half the usual speed, the mastering process teases out extra nuance: deeper, more controlled bass, airier highs, and a wider, more three-dimensional soundstage. The choirs, strings, and layered guitars gain a clarity that standard pressings only hint at, making this a particularly rewarding listen on a well-set-up turntable.

Beyond its audiophile appeal, this record is a cornerstone of conceptual rock—bridging the gap between classic prog and the sleek, studio-driven sound that would define Parsons’ later work. If you collect vinyl not just to own albums but to inhabit them, this edition of “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination” is a richly atmospheric journey worth returning to, night after night.
