The City - Vangelis - Audio CD - Pre Owned CDs (Arrives in 14days)

Vangelis’ ‘The City’ stands as a masterwork of instrumental storytelling, distilling the restless spirit and melancholy beauty of urban life into sound. Composed in 1990, this album sees the legendary Greek composer trading his sweeping, cinematic grandeur for a more intimate, impressionistic approach. Each track unfolds like a stroll through city streets at dusk—layered synths evoke neon reflections, distant horns conjure midnight reveries, and gentle percussion pulses with the quiet energy of late-night wanderings. Vangelis crafts an atmosphere that is both deeply personal and universally resonant, drawing on electronic textures without sacrificing warmth or humanity. ‘The City’ rewards attentive listening, revealing new details with every spin, and stands apart for its ability to conjure nostalgia for places you may never have visited, yet feel instantly familiar. For fans of evocative instrumental music and collectors who appreciate the intersection of electronic innovation and emotional depth, this album is an essential addition. It’s a testament to how a master like Vangelis transforms everyday scenes into timeless musical vignettes, inviting you to lose yourself in the glow of imagined city lights.
