The End Of An Ear - Robert Wyatt - Audio CD - Pre Owned CDs (Arrives in 14days)

With 'The End Of An Ear,' Robert Wyatt steps out from behind the drum kit of Soft Machine to unravel a deeply personal and wildly inventive solo vision. Released in 1970, this album marks a critical juncture in Wyatt’s career and in the broader landscape of British experimental music. Here, jazz is not a genre but a living, breathing organism—morphing through tape manipulations, vocal abstractions, and a fearless disregard for convention. Wyatt’s voice becomes an instrument in itself, darting, muttering, and crooning across a soundscape inhabited by freeform saxophone bursts and unorthodox rhythms.

This album isn't for the casual listener looking for easy hooks; it's a rewarding listen for those who savor albums that challenge and surprise. 'The End Of An Ear' is as much an artifact of the fertile Canterbury scene as it is a singular statement of intent—a sonic diary documenting the restless creativity of its maker. For vinyl lovers and collectors, this record is a cornerstone of any collection that values the outer reaches of jazz and progressive music. If you’re searching for a listening experience that’s as unpredictable as it is historically significant, this is essential.
