Ton Petit + - Anton Goudsmit - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

With an already admirable body of work to his name, guitarist Anton Goudsmit unveils his latest musical project: Ton Petit+, slated for release in September 2024 under Dox Records.

While Goudsmit is typically known for his irresistible enthusiasm, boundless energy, and exuberant playing style, he has gained particular renown as the founder of The Ploctones, artistic director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and through notable collaborations with Eric Vloeimans, BRUUT!, Benjamin Herman, New Cool Collective, New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, and the power trio Montis, Goudsmit & Directie.

Over time, Goudsmit has unequivocally proven himself a master of variation and versatility, a true polymath. And although Ton Petit+ is once again a powerful testament to his artistic versatility, this project also reveals an entirely new facet of the guitarist. With keen and carefully thought-out compositions, the quintet —consisting Goudsmit on guitar, Sean Fasciani on bass, Tim Hennekes on drums, and supplemented by Mete Erker on saxophone and Joost Buis on trombone and lapsteel—brings a new level of musical expression.

The addition of Erker and Buis brings new inspiration to Goudsmit's compositions, with each musician leaving their own mark on the music without losing the distinctive sound of the original trio. As a result, the music of Ton Petit+ presents a more intuitive and richly textured sound palette, thanks in part to Buis' colorful lap steel and trombone and Erker's lyrical saxophone.

In the lead-up to the release of Ton Petit+, attentive listeners have already been treated to two striking singles: "House Rules" and "Bluebottle." "House Rules" is characterized by tightly organized rhythms and thoughtful harmonies, while "Bluebottle" showcases a rougher side of the ensemble, with subtle nuances, dynamic melodies, and a fitting homage to the vitality of the renowned guitarist.
