“We’re On!” is The Big Black Holes’ first full-length album—recorded, mixed, and mastered at Studio Påtår, with the band’s drummer Johan Holm serving as producer. With one foot in the ’60s world of the Beatles and the Stones, and the other in ’90s alternative rock, The Big Black Holes create a kind of semi-psychedelic garage rock you just can’t get enough of.

The album opens with “When You Were Young,” packed with melodies that follow one another in quick succession and filled with angst over what once was. The single “Off My Feet” is followed by the slightly heavier, Stooges-scented “Entrepreneur” and the somewhat gentler title track “We’re On!” Side A closes with the epic “Suit Yourself,” while “I’m Easy” offers a long, melancholic journey with psychedelic undertones.

Side B begins with the stripped-down “Playing Possum,” featuring only guitar, organ, and vocals from Anton Pollak and Lisa Wanloo. On “Buhu!” and “End It All Tonight,” the full band kicks in at full throttle, and the album wraps up explosively with “New Beginnings,” evoking Big Brother and the Holding Company and the raucous garage rock of the ’60s.
