Dave Brubeck Quartet – Time Further Out: Miro Reflections - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

“Time Further Out: Miro Reflections” finds the Dave Brubeck Quartet pushing even deeper into the rhythmic experiments that made Time Out a landmark, but with a more painterly, introspective touch. Structured as a loose suite inspired by Joan Miró’s abstract forms, the album treats each track like a canvas where meter, color, and mood are carefully rebalanced.

Brubeck’s piano is both architect and provocateur, stacking harmonies in unexpected places while never losing the melodic thread. Paul Desmond’s alto saxophone glides through these shifting time signatures with a dry, lyrical tone that keeps everything grounded and human. Underneath, Eugene Wright and Joe Morello turn rhythm into narrative, making odd meters feel conversational rather than academic.

This is a record for listeners who love jazz that thinks hard but feels easy—complex structures delivered with an almost casual grace. You can drop the needle and simply enjoy the cool, spacious swing, or lean in and trace the album’s subtle interplay between visual art and sound. On vinyl, the depth of the quartet’s dynamics and touch really opens up, making this pressing an essential addition for anyone serious about mid‑century jazz and adventurous listening.
