‘Heroes’ is a homage by Efraīm Trujillo to some of his tenor saxophone heroes i.e. John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Eddy Harris. Focus track ‘Dexterosity’ (i.e. ‘The quality of being Dexter’) is written for Dexter Gordon, the legendary tenor giant from the hardbop era. “With his powerful and resonant sound he dominated jazz in the 40s & 50s. My first jazz vinyl was his album Go!”, says Efraīm. Hispeed energetic track with drum solo by Dirk de Nijs. Also on board: Jeroen Vierdag on double bass and Sjoerd van Eijck on grand piano.
