My Christmas - Diana Damrau - Audio CD (Arrives in 50 days)

My Christmas is a magical double album, conceived by soprano Diana Damrau – a star of the world’s opera houses and concert halls – as two distinct programmes: Blessed Christmas and Festive Christmas. Blessed Christmas is filled with Christmas carols and songs that evoke heartwarming memories of Diana’s own childhood in Bavaria (including two different interpretations of "Stille Nacht", or "Silent Night"), while Festive Christmas celebrates the splendour of the season with music by composers such as Bach, Handel, Mozart and César Franck.

“Christmas without music is and always has been unthinkable for me,” says Diana Damrau. “It is a celebration of hope and faith … Beauty, harmony, truthfulness and balance are essential for our sense of equilibrium and to give us the strength to adjust to our lives in a world that is changing ever more dramatically … I wish you much joy listening to this album and I hope it affords you a glimpse of my ideal Christmas.”

The soprano is joined by the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Norddeutscher Figuralchor and the young members of the Knabenchor Hannover. There are two conductors: Blessed Christmas is in the hands of Richard Whilds, who also made the arrangements for the programme, while Riccardo Minasi – familiar from his Erato recordings with Il Pomo d’Oro, the ensemble he co-founded – takes the lead on Festive Christmas.
