Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Michael Brook – Night Song (30th Anniversary Edition) - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

“Night Song (30th Anniversary Edition)” captures a rare moment when two musical worlds met and refused to dilute themselves. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s towering qawwali vocals surge with devotion and improvisational fire, while Michael Brook surrounds them with spacious, textural guitar and subtle electronic treatments. Rather than smoothing the edges, the album leans into contrast: ancient melodic lines carried over a quietly glowing, almost cinematic soundscape.

Originally released in 1996, Night Song became a landmark in global Fusion, showing how traditional South Asian vocal music could converse with ambient, Western production without losing its spiritual core. This anniversary edition invites a fresh listen on vinyl, where the dynamics of Nusrat’s voice—whispers, cries, and soaring phrases—breathe against Brook’s patiently unfolding harmonies.

For collectors, this is more than a cross‑cultural curiosity; it’s a document of two artists listening intently to each other and building something neither could have made alone. File it next to your most transportive late‑night records: it rewards full‑side immersion, low lights, and an open mind. If you’re drawn to music that feels devotional yet adventurous, this edition deserves a permanent place on your turntable.
