About Alisha

Born in Brooklyn in 1968, Alisha Ann Itkin began vocal training at age eight and by her early teens was already honing her craft in a local rock‑dance group. A demo sent by her parents reached producer Mark S. Berry, resulting in her debut single "All Night Passion" in February 1984—a club favorite that reached No. 4 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Her self‑titled debut album followed in 1985, spawning further dance‑floor hits like "Too Turned On" and the No. 1 dance-charting anthem "Baby Talk.” In 1987, Alisha signed with RCA and released her second album Nightwalkin’, featuring singles such as “Into My Secret” and “Let Your Heart Make Up Your Mind,” and even contributing a Diane Warren song for the film Mannequin. Though the album itself didn’t chart, it reinforced her presence in dance‑pop circles. Then in 1990, she made a comeback on MCA Records with her third album Bounce Back; the title track broke into the Billboard Hot 100 and cracked the Top 10 on the dance chart. Her later work included standalone singles like 1996’s "Wherever The Rhythm Takes Me,” released on both CD and 12" vinyl, and 1999’s “You Wanna Be A Star (Superstar),” tied to the film of the same name. Even as the mainstream spotlight dimmed, she revisited her roots with a 2004 re‑recording of “All Night Passion” in a High‑NRG style, showing her enduring connection to her early sound. Though her chart success peaked in the 1980s and early ’90s, Alisha’s music reflects a spirited chapter in freestyle and dance‑pop history, reminding listeners of an era powered by pulsating synths, rhythmic beats, and unabashed club energy.
