Part of the Jean-Pierre Leloir 180 gram vinyl Collection, As the original album’s title indicates, Together for the First Time marked the first collaborative album by the legendary jazz giants Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

The album was warmly received at the time of its release in 1961, with Down Beat giving it a rating of four and a half stars. Don DeMicheal wrote: “Most of the credit for the quality of the date must go to Ellington, whose presence evidently brought out the creative powers that Armstrong still possesses.” The 1957 version of “Do Nothin’Till You Hear From Me” has been added as bonus track.
